If you are tired of copy and paste, or worse, trying to fight with multiple applications to achieve your publishing goals then this is the session for you. Mike will demonstrate methods for creating such outputs as print, web, mobile, HTML 5, ePub and other publishing requirements from a true single-source, single-application workflow. See why companies like Illumina, Compressus, Thinking Windows, Creative Interactive, Actel, and others have switched to a single-application workflow to drastically improve their ROI.

In the first hour we will cover the major steps in a typical documentation project:

• Leveraging existing content (MS Word documents, FrameMaker files, HTML files, etc.)
• Making the shift to topic-based authoring and maximizing content reuse
• MadCap Flare best practices and authoring techniquesMadCap Flare publishing: Templates and process

The second hour is flexible and will be driven by audience consensus. Possibilities include:

• An introduction to CSS theory for new users to XML publishing
• Advanced CSS techniques in MadCap Flare
• Advanced single-source publishing techniques for multimedia: Using conditional markers and variables in your graphics, movies, and tutorials
• Or, discussion / demonstration based on audience directed request

Michael Hamilton, VP, Product Evangelism, MadCap Software

Prior to joining MadCap Software, Michael Hamilton served as the Product Manager for Macromedia's award-winning RoboHelp product line. As product manager of RoboHelp at Blue Sky Software, eHelp, and then Macromedia, Mr. Hamilton gathered input and feedback from the customer community and guided ongoing development of the various RoboHelp products. Mr. Hamilton joined the RoboHelp family in 1998 as a founding member of the Training Solutions Program team, where he co-authored the certified training materials supporting the RoboHelp family. In 2005 when Macromedia terminated RoboHelp development (and the RoboHelp development staff) Mr. Hamilton became one of the founders of MadCap Software.

Mr. Hamilton has over twenty years of experience in training, technical communication, multimedia development, and software development at several organizations including Cymer, a leading supplier of laser illumination sources to the semiconductor industry, National Steel & Shipbuilding and the US Navy.
